Lens was made only in 1931, around the time Leitz lenses were passing the 100,000 serial number range, but a number of them early? I found pictures of a Mtr scale example without serial number on the web, so it was not just Ft marked versions that are missing a SN.This one is marked in feet for the US market. The focus is stiff from years of sitting in its case, but very smooth and gets easier with some exercise. The lens has about 98% of its original enamel finish intact with slight brassing of the very front rim and some faint rub marks on the focus band. The group picture shows some marks on the original enameled cap, but those were sticker adhesive residue that cleaned off with a dab of goo-gone. See the last picture with one tiny nick in the enamel at the edge of the cap.
The rear cap is modern push-on plastic. The glass has no external scratch or internal fungus, but a bright flashlight shows uniform haze inside. The leather case is a correct period case but not marked Leitz.
