The lens number dates this to a 1973 production run. Made of real metal, real glass, is. Superbly built and feels good in use. It is a surprisingly compact optic that can be carried in a pocket all day long, ready for when needed.
Focus is smooth, aperture ring is crisp, positive and has half stop increments. The glass has no scratches or cleaning marks but expect to see some dust specks because of its age. There is a leica rear cap and a generic 39mm front cap included. Everything about this lens makes sense except the daft decision by Leica to make the front filter thread an'odd' pitch so that standard 39mm filters and accessories won't properly attach.
(However, some users have found the cheapo-ping-pong 39mm hoods and filters have'soft' threads that grip quite well). I have added a few shots taken quickly in the garden (at F8 & F16) that I hope will give you an idea of its potential. And, of course, the camera in the pictures is not included - It is pictured only to demonstrate the functional and compact design of the lens being auctioned. The item "Leitz Leica 90mm F4 Elmar C For Film or Digital M and various Mirrorless DSLR" is in sale since Saturday, May 2, 2020.
