Up for sale is an exceptionally old Leica/Leitz Elmar 5cm f/3.5. It is uncoated, meaning production is from before 1944 and uses the 5cm instead of 50mm scale to describe focal length which was only done in the early 1930s.
It also has the old aperture scale from 3,5, 4,5 6,3 etc. This lens was originally a Leica I lens that was converted in 1931/2 to the interchangeable type as was done on many Elmar 5cm's at the time which is why it also lacks a serial number, as Leica I Elmars were not serialised and Leitz did not apply a serial number after conversion. It has the older "bell-push" style infinity lock that is at the 11 o'clock position, all together an extremely old and rare example. This lens retracts and extends smoothly.
It focuses well and the infinity lock works great. 10 aperture blades and mechanism is smooth. This lens could do with a service and have the grease and slight haze cleaned. This item is in the category "Cameras\Lenses & Filters\Lenses".
