These Elmars with the arrow on the scale indicate that they have been redesigned with improved optical performance and coatings. Optically the lens appears to be near excellent. No fungus or aggressive cleaning marks are present. Slight internal dust, minimal haze to the edges of the element (centre is clear), and a few sparse coating marks. This lens produces incredibly sharp images even wide open at f3.5 with edge to edge sharpness. Contrast is perfect with gorgeous colours.

The aperture is super smooth and easy to change with minimal effort. The focus has been lubricated and is super smooth, fantastic for fine focusing. The lens focuses past infinity ever so slightly as one of the screws is worn. The lens comes with a genuine Leica front cap.
