Leica Leitz Elmar 50mm, 5cm, f/3.5 LTM Lens with Leica Bakelite Cap, Excl. Cond
This lens has serial number 639771 and was produced during 1947. Following resumption of production Leitz began coating their optics. Coated lenses such as this tend to have better contrast and color reproduction. Please look closely at the photos provided, they show that this lens is in very nice condition cosmetically, and both focusing and diaphragm controls move smoothly. The diaphragm leaves are both clean and in good condition. I would say this lens has had very light use over the years. Optically, there are very few cleaning marks as well as no visible etching. With this lens is an original Leitz bakelite lens cap, with its black felt lining in excellent condition. Due to the fragile nature of these caps, many have been broken, chipped, or cracked over the years.
There are no chips, cracks, or repairs to this cap; it is in perfect condition. Overall, this lens is a worthy addition to any collection, or completely useable on either a vintage Leica camera or with appropriate adapters on a modern Leica digital camera. Now for the legal stuff...
